Second Sunday in Lent

March 16, 2025

“Connections: From the Heavens to the Henhouse”

 8:30am in the Meetinghouse

(With weekly Communion)

 10:30am in the Meetinghouse

 (10:30am Live Streamed)

We invite you to join us in the Meetinghouse at 8:30 & 10:30am on Sunday, March 16th as we continue our Lenten season worship, with a theme of “Connections.” How are we called to connect with God and one another?  And how do we connect our faith with our everyday lives?

This Sunday, we will hear the story of Jesus being warned to turn back from Jerusalem in Luke 13:31-34, but he courageously vows to continue on the way God is leading him, no matter what the cost. He speaks of his mission to reveal God’s passionate love for us, as a mother hen hopes to shelter her chicks. In a second passage from the Letter to the Philippians, Paul lifts up the church as a model to the rest of the world on how to live our faith with courage – as “citizens of heaven” and not as slaves to fear.

How do we draw strength by following God’s call for our own lives? How do we keep moving forward with hope through the trials of life we face each day? Pastor Bryn preaches: “From the Heavens to the Henhouse.”

We will gather for communion worship at 8:30am, and our Church School meets at 10:30, after a Time with Our Children.  Our Bell Choir plays at 10:30am as well. Nursery is open at both services. All are welcome!

Worship Opportunities

Labyrinth & Children's Garden:

Our Labyrinth and the story of how it came to be were recently published in a book of New England Labyrinths, so we are excited to share that with people in our area and beyond. Planted around our Labyrinth, we also have a Children's Garden, where kids are able to experience God's presence in Creation, remember loved ones who have died, and go to play or pray at our church. All are welcome to visit during daylight hours.  You can find the entrance to the footpath to the labyrinth and garden on the left side of the slope down into our lower parking lot.

Keep an eye on your email, the Congregational Church of Brookfield Facebook Page, or our website on Sunday morning for the links to join us (and please feel free to share the links with family and friends). Afterward, if you are willing to share a photo of you or your family worshipping with us online that may be used on our CCB Facebook page or website, please send it to External link opens in new tab or windowuccbsocialmedia@gmail.com.   If you have missed any of our online worship services you can find them linked below, and you can subscribe to our YouTube channel External link opens in new tab or windowuccbvideo, where our worship services are archived.

Sharing to Build, Building to Share…

“Sharing to Build, Building to Share” Project Highlight

Our Fellowship Hall construction continues to progress. The framing of both floors has been completed, except for a few interior walls. The roof trusses have arrived and have been installed, and the roof is being finished. We expect windows and doors to arrive by the end of February or early March. Interior rough-in of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems should happen in February.

How exciting it has been to see our new accessible building addition grow each week! If you missed the December and January information sessions, note that we are planning to hold them monthly, with the next ones to take place after both worship services on Sunday, February 9th.

Thank you to everyone who is backing this move toward greater accessibility at CCB with prayers and finances. The energy surrounding this project is so great, and that is thanks to you and your continued support, encouragement, and commitment -- both financial and spiritual. Your gifts and help are truly a blessing!

Note: Please pay attention to any changes in the back parking lot due to construction and supervise children outside near the construction area/playscape at all times.  Thank you!

Because we are CCB, we have fun whenever we gather! Even as we worship each week in our historic Meetinghouse, fellowship is at the very heart of our church life and we believe Fellowship Hall should be accessible to all.  We invite you to contribute as generously as you can and help us extend God's extravagant welcome to everyone, "no matter who we are or where we are on life's journey."  Whether we walk or roll, we seek to follow Jesus together!

Pastors Fund Thanks & Information

Our pastors wish to thank you so much for your generous support of the Pastors Fund during these difficult and ever-changing times.  With your help bills have been paid to cover housing costs, medical bills, and emergency repairs as well as to cover other everyday costs like food, gas, and clothing for members & friends of our church and wider community.  The Pastors Fund is supported through the honorarium from the funerals/memorials that our pastors officiate, as well as through the generous gifts of members and friends of our community.  The Thrift Shop has supported the Pastors Fund with gifts from sale profits, and the Pastors Fund is also one of the options for holiday support through our Virtual Giving Tree this year.
If you are feeling moved to make a direct gift to the Pastors Fund, gift cards for groceries and gas are always welcome, as are donations made payable to Pastors Fund.
